This is probably the shortest but same time the most frustrated report I have composed for you so far. The Southeast came full strength as expected but so far so normal. Just the first weekend of the month was nicely fishable so I went on the boat to fuel up for a couple of trips and found that someone had stolen one of my engine covers. Did not even realize until on the boat as the topping fabric cover had been put back so neatly. Was a dedicated and determined theft as to take the cover off one needs to trim the engine down. To do that one needs to get to the cut-off switch which requires breaking a lock. I was pi**ed off beyond words (excuse my language). A new cover on Mahe is around 2000€ and wasn`t available. Managed to get a used one here in much worse state than mine at still a hell of a price and the integral parts missing on it stopped me not only from using the boat but are also not available in this country. So no fishing once more except for a bit of fly. To the expected results of course as there are simply no better fish close to shore at this time of the year in the house bay being the only protected place.
Of these there were plenty as usually but nothing better. Sight fishing was not possible as the water is slightly murky and sunshine was rare. About no contribution from the charter boats at all as it was too windy all along apart from the last weekend. JD (One Love II) then was out twice catching the usual assortment of Wahoos, Dorados and Bonitos and also they lost a Sailfish at the boat. A couple of other boats also went as some tourists are around again but I have not heard of any special catches, nor are there any further pics to show. So little joy here these days for me and a change of scenery for a couple of weeks looks like a good thing to have.
